Behind the Najran museum are the scattered remnants of Al-Ukhdood. Founded as early as the 7th century BC, this former farming community survived possibly until the 10th century AD. Such was its significance that is was mentioned in the Quran. Most of the extensive site is probably only of interest to those with a specialist archaelogical interest, although picking your way through the crumbling stone walls and searching for Thaumidic ins c r i p tions can be a pleasant way to pass a time.
